Yunnan Normal University (henceforth YNNU) is a provincial key normal university in Yunnan Province with rich history and good reputation. Awarded “outstanding university” by the Ministry of Education in the National Evaluation of Undergraduate Teaching Quality, co-supported by the Ministry of Education and Yunnan Provincial Government, it is also a model university for College-graduate Employment and a member of the Midwest University Fundamental Capacity Building Project. It covers a total area of 3,330 mu (about 543 acres). It consists of 23 schools, 2 independent schools, and more than 40 research institutes, 1 mobile post-doctoral station, 1 PhD program in first–class disciplines, 7 PhD programs in second–class disciplines, 26 MA programs in first-class disciplines, 130 MA programs in second-class disciplines, ten of which are professional master’s programs like MBA. It is one of the first 24 leading universities in China that offer the Master’s Program for Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages.

The University attaches importance to the education and training of postgraduate students, with strict supervision of “Three High Standards” (Admission, Course Study, and Dissertation), “Three Managements” (Academic Discipline, Academic Performance, and Research) and “Three Importances” (Moral Character Education, Academic Exchange, Practical and Creative Ability). In addition to the National Scholarship and National Tuition Assistance system, the school provides Outstanding Graduate Scholarship, Wu Daguan Scholarship, Huazang Scholarship, etc. to encourage students to work hard and boost their creativity in scientific researches and aim at all-round development.

I. Admission Plan and Majors

(A)Admission Plan

In 2014, YNNU plans to admit full-time research-oriented graduates and full-time professional graduates. According to the admission quota allotted by the Ministry of Education, the University will adjust the number of each major according to the actual need of society, test-taker number and the number of first-choice applicants above the admission score, and the planning enrollments will not be less than the year 2013 (1233 graduates were admitted in 2013).

Warm tips: In 2013, for most of the majors, all first-choice applicants above the admission score had the opportunity for an interview. This year, the situation will be pretty much the same.

(B)Majors

The University offers 148 postgraduate majors, including 115 full-time research-oriented majors and full-time professional majors, and 411 research fields.
