Welcome to Yunnan Normal University

Admissions Guide for Taiwan High School Graduates, YNNU

YNNU traces its founding back to the former Teachers College of the National Southwest Associated University which was established in 1938 by merging Peking University, Tsinghua University and Nankai University in the backdrop of the Anti-Japanese War, when these universities had to move south to Kunming. It covers a total area of 3,330 mu (about 543 acres). It consists of 23 schools, two independent schools, and more than 40 research institutes and offers 144 doctoral and master’s programs, ten of which are professional master’s programs like MBA. It is one of the first 24 leading universities in China that offer the Master’s Program for Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. The university offers 70 undergraduate majors, including 9 national-level key majors, and 10 disciplines—literature, history, philosophy, law, education, management, science, technology, economics and arts. With teacher education as its characteristic, it also features a balance between the Humanities and the Sciences, a solid foundation and coordinated development of disciplines. YNNU is the only provincial key university in Yunnan Province that is authorized by the Ministry of Education to admit students from Taiwan.
